Annual Reports

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine in Melbourne has been one of our valued clients for over 8 years. The VIFM was established after a long and persistent campaign to create an organisation dedicated to providing reliable forensic services of the highest quality to the Victorian justice system and community. The VIFM has continued to attract people who are dedicated to their particular fields of expertise and who are committed to making a positive contribution to the health and safety of the community. Recently the VIFM has gone through a rebranding and also a major website redevelopment. Plug2studio assisted with strategic planning and design for the website in addition to a number of print related projects. Plug2studio also assists the Institute annually with the design of their annual report including print management.

Website Design

The redevelopment of the website was a major project and was successfully completed through thorough planning from early stages on. Content heavy websites need to be planned well before design and development can start. It is important for large websites to have a plan in place to determine the functionalities needed to ensure a relevant and positive user experience. Plug2studio assisted the VIFM with this process leading to a well designed website.

Photography

Throughout the years plug2studio has facilitated images for the Annual Report and other printed or digital communications of the institute. Our approach to photography is to create modern and contemporary images that will allow you to be used in versatile contexts throughout all your communications. For the VIFM we captured staff members both in work and group settings. We also photographed equipment and captured lifestyle like photos during events.

Print

Plug2studio created a number of print related designs as for example Capability Statements, brochures and Annual Reports. The aim here is to create documents that are clearly structured and allow for the reader to access information and data easily. Working with the Forensic institute of Melbourne especially demands the creation of information design graphics to show statistics intrinsically linked with Annual reports.

Photography

Our team took a series of portraits for Of Kin’s leap stories blog. The leap stories are stories about change. From CEOs to solopreneurs, tech startups to non-profits, Kylie Lewis uncovers different ways to rethink a career and to reinvent a livelihood, despite feelings of fear.

Branding

The dental and skin clinic founded by Dr. Rita Trak is a medical clinic with a unique concept. Dr Rita’s talent for creating beautiful, bespoke veneers is celebrated around the world – she has travelled to the USA, Germany and Israel to share her expertise as an aesthetic trainer and instructor. Her treatment philosophy is to start from the face and work inwards towards the smile to create a subtle, natural and balanced outcome that creates confidence. Dr Rita’s work has driven a counterculture in aesthetic dentistry. She believes that there is a strong overlap between smile and facial aesthetics, and uses this philosophy to capture, protect and amplify the face’s natural beauty through her smile makeovers.

Web Design

We created an identity for the Dental Skin Clinic that truly reflects her brand. Our branding for the clinic focused on two key elements communicating her unique concept. Natural beauty and quirkiness. The identity is simple and elegant to ensure it reflects the high end nature of the practice. The website is designed to communicate the brand , but also extremely informative  allowing clients to source all the information they need before visiting the clinic.  The website features an easy user flow, interactive forms and pleasing aesthetics.

Branding

Plug2studio created a brand including photography and website for our client Giving Kids. Giving Kids promotes social thinking in children. The company is doing this by encouraging children and parents to donate the value of their birthday presents to charity. Founded by a Melbourne mum, Giving Kids is based on a belief that children should be encouraged to value life, not things. Our children need our time and attention more than anything. This attention is getting harder to give with more parents working hard to maintain material based lifestyles. Giving Kids believes in quality of life not quantity of things.

Webdesign

We developed a simple font based identity that is playful in its colour application. Resulting in a logo appealing to both adults and children. Leading to an overall playful and yet sophisticated and modern brand appeal. Aim was to be able to apply the brand to merchandise in a subtle way allowing the product to be more than merchandise but appealing in their own sense. The main application for the identity was its application on the website. The branding was carried through the design in it’s use of colours and fonts. The website is designed to collect donations and send out electronic birthday invitations.

Photography

Our studio was engaged in capturing images to support the brand story. We created a number of black and white shots of young children to allow the target audience to identify with the brand. Aiming at creating evocative images that speak of a happy childhood.

Social Media Management

We provided a number of social media tiles to help introducing the brand on social media. The tiles use the overall visual language, icons and imagery developed for the brand.

Branding

At plug2studio we were involved in creating the Botica brand including all aspects of their branding. Our work included identity design, naming, interior café concept. We also designed the website and all print related tasks. Including signage, merchandise, menus etc. Botica is an Espresso bar located at the Emporium shopping complex in the Melbourne CBD. Botica takes its name from the Spanish word “Botica” meaning: Antique Chemist, where all sorts of elixirs were prepared to promote health and vitality. Inspired by this notion Botica brings together the authentic taste of carefully crafted coffee. Botica serves a selection of gourmet style breakfasts and lunch dishes in an interior surrounded by old charm and science. The Botica brand is a great example of how successful branding consistently carried through all aspects of a business.

Setting up a café entailed a number of print design related tasks to complete. From the café signage over menus to branded merchandise as for example serving boards, take away coffee cups and packaging. Part of the branding was the development of a set of versatile icons supporting the brand identity. These additional graphics can be used to support the brand and develop a visual language that is instantly recognisable belonging to or being the Botica brand. A consistent branding throughout all print collateral also established a business that can potentially be franchised.

Branding

Our studio was heavily involved in creating the brand DENFAIR. Which is an annual event co created by plug2studio’s director Claudio Oyarce. DENFAIR brings designers, architects, stylists and property professionals to Melbourne for a first look at the products and ideas shaping the spaces they love.  Denfair’s carefully curated approach ensures an exhibition full of original, inventive design.  More than an exhibition, the event is a forum for inspired conversation. Our passion for design, lead to creating a design driven internationally recognized design event. This is why this outstanding brand is very close to our hearts. Our studio was involved over 6 consecutive years in branding, web design and photography for the fair. The proportions of the DENFAIR logotype have been carefully considered. We designed the DENFAIR logotype as a core element identifying the brand. The consistency of usage is therefore essential. Our logotype is always presented as monochromatic. Black on white or white on black. A simple and modern brand appeal was essential to allow the represented brands to shine under the Denfair umbrella. Our design needed to appeal to designers, architects and design enthusiasts alike.

Webdesign

Our Denfair website has a clean and modern user interface ensuring visitors can access information easily. Our design is minimal and sophisticated ensuring it is in line with the high-end appeal of the event it represents. The website has an extensive brand directory and blog. In addition some complex functionalities were implemented including booking and e-commerce functionalities.

Print

Being a trade fair held at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre there is a plethora of print collateral needed during the event. Part of our contributions to print materials are signage, show guides, flyers. Additionally some way finding and information design tasks need implementation.

Photography

Our documentation of the fair both in video and still image is crucial for the promotion of Denfair. We created videos of the event for sponsors and exhibitors. Our lifestyle photography is used to capture the event, stand designs and audience.
